REGIONAL & LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Concern for the global environment has never been greater and in line with the need to ‘think globally and act locally’ a heavy responsibility falls upon both regional and local government 
authorities to protect and maintain the environment, either through initiatives that have direct effects or by actions that influence behaviour.
For example, regional sustainable development frameworks have a substantial impact upon the environment, particularly through housing and transport. Similarly, initiatives such as the provision of green travel, the creation of green space, waste recycling, reduced landfill and sustainable procurement can all contribute towards enhancement of the local environment.
